Kanaviddagala, located at the southern end of the Knuckles Reserve, is a peak with the most challenging access among the mountains in the area. Due to its unique shape, it is popular among mountain climbers, yet the difficulty of its location makes it a significant challenge to conquer. Only a select few have successfully reached the summit.
The journey to this mountain starts from the Kalugala village. After passing through the center of the reserve and arriving at the Vellangolla path, travelers head towards the Kehelpathdoruwa, eventually reaching the base of Kanaviddagala. The climb begins with a risky descent of about 40 feet down a vertical rock face, followed by the challenging ascent to the peak. Climbers must be in excellent physical condition to navigate this terrain. Those who are afraid of heights should avoid this mountain, as it requires significant courage and skill.
The rock face is quite narrow, and only one person can approach the summit at a time. Upon reaching the peak, the view is indescribably breathtaking, often shrouded in mist. The changing views of the Kehelpathdoruwa and Yahangal mountains are incredibly stunning.
