You can reach the highest crest in this range, Kabaragala, as you proceed across Dedugala, Bulathkohupitiya, and close to Nawalapitiya town in Kandy district. These mountains are usually enveloped in mist most of the time, and if you choose to climb during the rainy season, you can bet on incredible sights. Lying at an altitude of 1506 ft, Kabaragala Mountain is an absolutely unique creation of Mother Nature. As per its namesake, this mountain range takes the shape of a water monitor. The first viewpoint of this range is the protruding crown of a mountain jutting out amongst a thicket of pine trees. This range is a fine example that depicts the biodiversity of the region. It has the features of meadows with the growth of iluk and mana plants as well as forests shrouded in mist because of its unique climatic conditions. It is also rife with endemic insects: colorful butterflies and beetles, which add more variety and spectacle to the domain.

You have to climb across pine woods and tea plantations to reach the summit. However, there is a clear-cut trail right up to the top of the mountain. From the peak of Kabaragala mountain, you can view, Kothmale reservoir, Adam’s Peak, Ambuluwawa, Sapthakanya, and Rakshgala mountains.

Nevertheless, within another hour’s time, you will be able to reach the Kabaragla crest, which is the highest point of the Dolosbage mountain range.
